» RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY
Reconstructive Surgery is the surgery aiming at the reconstruction of an organ showing some destructive effect. The most frequent surgery is breast reconstruction which is performed after a mastectomy due to cancer breast.
Post-mastectomy reconstruction can be done either by combining the placement of a tissue expander and the subsequent insertion of a prosthesis, or by the harvest of a skin graft to cover and fill.
Grafts placement may also be combined with prosthesis placement. The best technique to be used depends on a correct diagnosis and physical examination.
